Stranded Wire in a mechanical lug

Lug is rated for # 14 to # 6 . When they terminated the # 14 stranded they stripped back about 1 inch of wire , looped it in a " U " shape , then placed under lug and tightened it . Is this a correct way to terminate this ?

Nope. Since the conductor is within the range of the terminal it should be installed straight in.

Your answer may lead some to believe that a conductor under the lug rating may be looped.

Yes I did think about the vagueness of my response. I did mean straight in without bending or looping etc.
