Hey guys looking at the post on mc reminded me of the time I pulled in 700 ft of stranded mc cable. We were on the last two spec units on a condo. My best friend and I had roughed all of the units together. We constantly jabbed at each other who was fastest. So we decided to find out paycheck vs paycheck. We start pulling the units in and my wire feels limp. I dont think much of it and keep snatching. At one point for whatever reason I looked at the wire and it was flipping stranded. Ive never seen this before or since. Is it common to get stranded mc? What other competitions have you guys had on jobsites?

We've used in the past when the supply house sent it. For #10 conductors I would always use it if available.

We love the stuff, won't buy anything else! It pulls much easier around corners, through holes, etc. We use stranded on all our EMT jobs too so I guess we are used to stranded.

I would say it shines where you are able to drop down a wall to a tiger-grip box cutout. Like Iwire says, it doesn't push so well, so if there is insulation in the wall, then solid is much better, but when a jack chain will drop, the stranded (for a one man working alone) pulls over the t-bar and down the top of the partition better due to the flexibility. Also, for 1 gang boxes like tiger grips or gangable sw boxes ran 1 gang, with stranded mc the wires push back into the box easier when you set a device into the box. For open walls / new 4" square boxes with sw rings, my preference would be solid mc, mostly cause I have lots of spare room in those boxes for the conductors and device. (box fill rules applied of course:))
