I have been experiencing a strange power issue in my condo for the last few months, and am curious if anyone might know if there's anything I can do about it. Specifically, something that wouldn't be hugely expensive.
First an explanation of my setup:
I have a video projector in my living room, which is how I watch movies. However, I also have a TV in the same room, and I will use it occassionally to watch the news or some other random show. So, I use this HDMI splitter:
An HDMI cable comes out of my A/V receiver, and into this splitter. From the splitter, one cable goes to the TV, and one goes to the projector.
The problem:
When I'm watching something on the projector, sometimes when the air conditional cuts on or the refrigerator cuts on, the projector will go black for about 5 seconds. As you can imagine, this is rather annoying when watching a movie. While I don't use the TV very often, I have never noticed the TV going black, so I assume it has something to do with either the projector or the HDMI splitter. The cable going from the HDMI splitter to the projector is about 20 feet long, so maybe the HDMI splitter cannot output a strong enough signal to make it all the way there when one of the appliances comes on? Could the power going to it get dropped to the point that it cannot function properly?
Would there be anything I could do (that wouldn't cost a fortune) to solve this?
