I have panel upgrade
Whomever before cut all wires short
Now i have to install 6x6 trough And splice in trough per inspector to extend almost all wires to panel buss
Im installing 1.5 in emt nipples from panel to trough Nipples under 8 inches Question is Can i use strip romex and run from trough to panel or MUST BE ThhN thru nipple?

Are you saying that the cables are not long enough to make it into the panel so that they can spliced there?

AFAIK, you are not allowed to strip the jacket on NM cable except in the box where you are making connections which in this case would be the panel. (In other words, the stripped conductors can't leave the box.) The only exception would be if the individual conductors in the NM cable are marked with an allowed wire type.

You can use any allowed wire type in the nipples including NM cable, however THHN would most likely be the best choice.

What we're saying is, if the cables themselves reach the panel, you can extend the wires to reach the breakers and the buses.

EGCs can be joined to require fewer terminals on the grounding bus, as long as your pigtail is as big as the biggest needed.

Inspector what I feel he meant. Romex needs to pass thru nipple in tact and 1/4 pretrude. U cant have Romex stripped in nipple with a nipple under 18 inches. Im not sure if I reading this correct.. He mention a code number exception.

The 18" minimum raceway length is from a different requirement. Aren't you entering the wireway with NM cable connectors?

Major cause of fires and injury: Never heard of it.
Conductors exposed when the sheath is stripped off Romex and installed in a 8" metallic raceway are major cause of fire and injury ! Really ? Any documentation ?

yes Enter trough with nm connectors Then two 8 inch emt nipples to panel. Nipples im thinking should be thhn from extending short conductors from trough thru nipples to panel Question is can u strip romex and extend black and white using stripped romex Or should it be thhn?

You haven't said: will the cable jackets reach the panel?
Exactly What i trying to say
Ty for understandng
No most insulation jackets, will only make it to trough
These will be spliced in trough to panel. I assume stripping romex to get out the black and white to extend is illegal? And i must use thhn
2nd issue is the ones that will make
I must go thru the trough with some.
These must go thru nm connector thru trough to panel Here it is
You cant strip romex, on the ones that can make it and remove jacket/insulation.
That will be the violation over again ?
It must make it with sheathing thru trough thru nipple to panel ,
and need insulation to remain a 1/4 inch protrude/past nipple . If assistant forgets and strips the romex ones in trough, violation? On ones that would of made it.
Now these would need thhn splice cause stripped romex cant pass thru nipple
Inspector did mention
code 312.5 exception c 1 thru 7

Also because nipples are 8 in and not the 18 inches or longer Per 312.5 c This is what confuses me
