Can a structured wiring panel be mounted in the same stud pair as an electrical subpanel ?

I have a 14in high subpanel going into a basement room and need to locate a 14in high structured wiring panel in the same room. It would be preferable to mount them above each other but I'm not sure if this would result in a code violation.

Go look at the pictures of dedicated space in your code handbook. It is the space in front of the panel that you have to worry about, not above or below unless the other housing projects out into the dedicated space. A flush panel above a flush structured wiring housing is ok per the NEC. Watch for other things like the max height of breakers if you do this.

IMO it would be difficult to get an inspector to allow it - even if there is no specific language in 110.26 about communication systems wiring as a separate and foreign system to the electrical installation - which it is IMO. Side by side is a no brainer - but above and below is not so clear....
