Greetings-
I am wiring a new home and the builder wants to add a structured wiring system and one that is intergrated with lighting control. I am leaning towards an OnQ system with the A-bus audio, and TV and telcom distribution modules. Is this a good system or is the Leviton or others (??) a better value in the long run? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Who's installing it??

The OnQ system can be tricky and it is definately to your advantage to have someone that is familiar with the system install it.

I don't like the Leviton equipment, I prefer the Pass and Seymore equipment if you are going that route.

There are other brands available also.

Re: Structured wiring system OnQ?

on-q is fine. they have a dealer training course.
make sure the capacity of the modules you buy is sufficient for your client's needs. on some larger homes we have had to assemble our own structured wiring/video distribution cans because the retail stuff wasn't large enough. [ie too many network or tel drops, or CATV/Sat runs].

make sure you install cans that are large enough to handle the large volume of wire that terminates at the head end. stake out as much real estate as you can for your termination point.
