If you're looking for something to study for a code exam I would start with memorizing a large portion of the index. So for example if there's a question about MC cable you know to go immediately to Article 330 without having to find what article contains the information about MC.

You're not going to know the answer to every question and since these exams are timed the faster you can get to the applicable code section the better.

One of my homework assignments for my second year students is to make flash cards for every article in the index. Also flash cards for every definition.
