Sub-meter for EV Charger

I installed my first level 2 EV Charger and sub-meter (standard Eaton 100 amp meter socket). I am having trouble with the inspection because the inspector is saying that my neutral and ground are being re-grounded. I feel the corrective action would be to leave the ground wire in the lug to ground the equipment and wire nut the neutrals to remedy. For those seasoned with EV charger installations, is this correct?

That would work. I like Polaris connectors.

I just did a sub meter a couple months ago, and I think it had an isolated neutral bar that came with it? Can’t remember now.

Is the submeter on the line side of the service disconnect? If so, there is no issue using the standard meter socket that has its neutral bonded to the enclosure.
There may be other issues such as the location of the disconnect on the load side of the second meter.

You should clarify for us what it is you are doing.

Is the new meter a separate connection to the utility meter, in parallel with the meter(s) for the rest of the facility? Or is it in series with another meter 'upstream' toward the utility? More pertinently, as Don asked, is this new meter on the line side or the load side of the service disconnect?

The sub meter is on the line side of a 50 amp branch circuit used solely to monitor the EV Charger usage. I used a Polaris connector as recommended above and the inspector passed it. Thanks!
