I am looking at a job at an airport where a customer of mine has purchased a lot. He is erecting portable airplane hangars and would like exterior receptacles located at each hangar, or a group of receptacles in between a couple of hangars. He is looking to meter them individually. Can anyone recommend any manufacturers of sub-metered exterior receptacle assemblies, or any alternate ideas to metering would be greatly appreciated.

Not having any direct experience with this sort of hardware, I cannot make any recommendations.

However a search for "metered power outlet" turns up a bunch of options specifically designed for the RV campground market. These are panels (as well as pedestals designed for underground feed) which incorporate a meter, a few breakers, and several receptacles, often under a nice 'in use' cover. "RV metered power outlet" gets even more specific. (leave off the quotes when you do the search)

My search turned up:

Hmm. Some of these aren't too expensive. Maybe I should put them in the kid's rooms.....

A good idea is to check on your state laws, before contracting for any sub-metered project, many of the laws, require a third party audit contract, which may add to the cost of sub metering.
