I have a subpanel that was installed in 1989 as part of a new house build. There is a green sticker for the job. The 100 amp 24 circuit sub-panel is properly fed from a 200 Amp main panel with a neutral wire and separate ground wire. The neurtal and ground are properly isolated in the sub-panel. There are several 110VAC circuits in the sub-panel that are routed through the 200 Amp panel and into the 100Amp sub panel. They pass through the same conduit that carries the 100Amp feed. However the electrician did not cary the neutral or ground for these circuits into the sub-panel.
The question is : Is this lack of neutral and ground for the individual circuits into the sub-panel code compliant?
The reason for this question is that I plan to move some circuits between the 200A and 100A panels in preparation of installing a transfer switch. The neutral and ground will not be switched.
As a follow on question: I assume it is legal to wirenut extensions on the "short circuits" in the 200A panel to extend them into the sub-panel?
