sub panel question

When installing a sub panel in another area of a residence, what are the requirements for the sub panel concerning the main breaker. would I be able to install a main lug panel or would I need to have a main breaker in the sub in addition to the breaker installed in the original panel? Any code requirements covering this would also be greatly appreciated.

An MLO panel can be used provided it has a rating equal or greater than the feeder's ocpd. If rating is less than, then a MCB is required.
