Looking for feedback on a planned install. I am bumping my service to 200A and changing the meter location to be closer to the utility pole. It will be run underground and the meter will be mounted to the back of my attached garage. Next to the meter I want to install a 200A main panel with feed through lugs. From this main panel, I will feed the original 100A house panel and I want to use the feed through lugs on the main to feed a 200A panel without a main breaker on the inside of the garage (literally on the other side of the wall that the new main panel will be mounted on). I’ve been diving into the code book to see if this install would violate any code but I can’t seem to find anything it violates. Essentially the 200A sub panel in the garage is really just an extension of the main panel. It’s protected at it’s ampacity according to 408.36. Since the attached garage is not a separate structure, I don’t think a separate disconnect is needed.
