I'm a Mechanical Engineering student, so I don't know a whole lot about electricity yet, so please bare with me. My dad wants me to put a sub panel in the garage because his power tools are taking too much off their current circuit. We currently have 150A service. I was wondering how many amps I can sub off of the 150? Thank you.

Re: Sub-Panel

Yes, I know enough about it to do the work, I'm just not sure about all the code and everything.

I am an Electrical Engineer with a Master?s Degree, a Professional Engineering license in 9 States, certification as an Electrical Administrator in Washington State, and I do know about the code. All that notwithstanding, I do not know enough to do the job you are describing.

The best advice you can get from this Forum is that given to you by jimwalker. In any event, our forum rules prohibit us from giving technical advice to a person not employed in the electrical trade. Therefore, I am closing this thread.
