I know in the code there is no such thing as a sub panel. But in the trade thats what we call it. Is there a min. size feed that could be used to feed the sub panel? And what would it be? And what section in the code? Thank You!!

I believe that if you had a 400 amp sub-panel with a calculated load of 5 amps, you could feed it with #12 wire. Which is to say that I believe there is no minimum feeder size.

feed to the subfeed panel/loadcenter whould be sized according to the OCP you feed it with,

If you are feeding from the main bus (feed thru lugs) of the Main distrubution panel, the size would be equal to the feeders of the main breaker.

As long as it was fed via a 20a breaker, of course.

If I have a empty panel (say owner wants for some future growth) I will use a 100 amp panel with a 70 amp main. No code just my opinion.
