What are the requirements for installing a main (cutout) breaker on a sub panel. I thought it was a matter of distance from the main panel and accessability. I am told that more than 6 breakers installed is also a criteria?

you have to have a main disconnect if you have more than 6 breakers BUT it does not have to be part of the panelboard.
