Subfeed to subpanels

I have been asked this a couple times in the last week and I think I know the answer but thought I would throw it out there. If I had a 200A main panel and I was to run a 100A subfeed and subpanel down to the basement and then another 100A subfeed out to the garage, would I be able to take another 100A subpanel from a 100A subpanel or would I have to take both subpanels from the main 200A panel. I know about all the disconects and grounding for a subpanel in an out building so not worried about that much.

You can put as many panels of whatever size you choose downstream, your loads will dictate where you stop.

Thanks all. That is what I fiqured but it was a little shady running a 100A sub from a 100A sub.
