subpanel feed

My electrical subcontractor installed a subpanel and ran the feed and all the romex through the same 1 1/2" connector at the top of the box. This was inspected and passed. The home owner hired another electrician who said that it does not comply with code. I have checked with the inspector and other electricians and they all agree that it does not violate the code. Please advise.

The connector would have to be listed for the use of that combination of cables.

300.15 Boxes, Conduit Bodies, or Fittings ? Where Required.

Fittings and connectors shall be used only with the specific wiring methods for which they are designed and listed.

314.17(B)&(C) require cables to be secured to the box, and 312.5(C) requires the cables to be secured to the enclosure.
312.5(C) Exception, permits the cables to enter the enclosure if installed following all of the requirements in that exception. Of which a fitting alone does not fulfil those requirements.

As Bob has pointed out, the fittings are required to be listed for the purpose they serve.

Just a stupid question was the fitting a nipple from the main panel to the sub panel below .Or were they side by side? :confused:

Were the conductors ran down an 1inch and a half piece of conduit? If so if its longer than 24inches derating would apply
