Subpanel Sizing Help

I need to install a subpanel (residential basement) to handle (1)50-amp breaker for hot tub and a few 20-amp breakers for future lighting/power

What size and type cable?
What size breaker?

It depends on how much spare ampacity you want. I would probably run 90 amps minimum but you could probably get by with 80 amps. I would not go lower than that. Size your wire to T310.15(B)(16)
