Re: Subpanel

I had this same question myself earlier...
I assume you mean 200 amp. Yes, panel could be fed for say 100 amp, 100 amp conductors and 100 protection at the feed point.

Re: Subpanel

As long as the feeder conductors to the subpanel are protected at or below their ampacity on the supply end, you can use any size feeder conductors that you want.

Re: Subpanel

At least ten times a year I am asked this question in regards to the main feeder between the service equipment and the main panel in the mobile home. The existing feeder fed a 100- amp load. A new mobile home with a 200 hundred- amp panel is moved onto sight. Can I feed this new trailer with a 100 amp feed as long as I protect the feeder with 100 amps .
The answer is no, because of the known or calculated load calls for a 200 amp feed. It?s an easy determination because these loads come with a tag that says so.

I agree with others but I add as long as the calculated load is being fed with a feeder sized to handle the load.

Re: Subpanel

I heard a story about this. It seems the electrician supplied a 200amp MH panel with only 100amps. The MH caught on fire (not electrical), and the insurance company denied the claim due to the service not being installed correctly.

Why not just install a 200amp service? This has happened before, when the mobile homes went from a standard of 60amp to 100amps.
