2011 NEC 376.23(B) refers to 314.28(A)(1) and 314.28(A)(2) however the language in 376.23(B) ONLY refers to the distance between entries portion of 314.28(A)(2). But, 314.28(A)(2) has three distinct portions: (a) distance from entry to opposite wall, (b) distance between entries for same conductor, and (c) metric designator. It would be clearer if 376.23(B) referenced 314.28(A)(2)(b) because this is the only portion of 314.28(A)(2) that is being applied. It is a mis-reading of the wording of 376.23(B) to apply the wording of the first portion of 314.28(A)(2) that applies to distance to opposite wall.
I propose to break 314.28(A)(2) into subsections (a), (b), and (c) as above and edit 376.23(B) to indicate 314.28(A)(2)(b).
