Hello
I am new to this forum.

In the last month we just installed a three phase 200 amp Sub Panel/Feeder fed from main service location that is over 400' away. The conduit is 4" PVC under ground with the following (3) feeds 4/0 thhwn (1) Neut 4/0 thhwn (1) #4 thhwn grnd to ground bus/connected to grnd rods.

At the subpanel we also installed 200 amp breaker panelboard and seperated the grnd and neut. The #4 grnd also runs back to the main service location and also we grounded with a #4 grnd to the main water line at the sub panel building. The cold water line is 1" copper and runs under ground about 400'.

I am most likely going to answer my own question here.
Do we also have to supplement the ground with also (2) grnd rods connected to the grnd bus at the Sub panel. Or does the grnd that is in the PVC conduit that goes back to the main service is considered the supplement that is already conected to the ground rods at main service or

Welcome to the forum.:)

Take a look at 250.32(A).

Also if the only grounding electrode at the second building is a water pipe then you must supplement that grounding electrode in accordance with 250.53(D)(2).

I agree with Chris. Basically you'll treat this building sub-panel like a service which requires supplementing the water pipe with another electrode.

Thanks
Chris.
I just wanted to confirm with supplementing the cold/water line with ground rods.

Is this a new building? No CEE present?

No, This is an existing building

This building is a sub building only sing story with basement around 1,500 sq ft.

(Our state spending money on a senseless project, that only benefited the contractors and sub contractors),
