From logic derives from Mike Holt you tube video on 690.47 where he reasoned that auxiliary (supplementary) bonding of equipment is unnecessary and, in fact, may be dangerous; Is using water pipe as supplementary grounding system a safe practice? Doesn't this create the same type of path that passes through the building from the water pipe at one end and the grounding rods at the other end that passes through the building and places equipment and persons in danger?

No as the auxiliary grounding introduces another path into your equipment for lighting and surges. The water pipe is bonded into the GES so all is the same potential
