Today I called and requested some parts delivered to the jobsite. They told me the whse person no longer worked there because sales where slow. The two remaining sales guys are going to man the whse. One of them was out on sales calls, so no deliveries...

I remembered someone saying the other day that they were saving some cost by having parts delivered to the job site.

We are now seeing the signs here in Okra-homa......still very busy on backlog, but calls are a crawl......

I see my supply houses are cutting back on employees as well. Their not immune to the economy either. We used to have to almost take a number to get waited on in the supply houses, now the parking lots are empty and inventory is a lot lower as well.

I don't know if my supply houses have cut back on employees, but our salesman did say business has slowed down a lot. Fortunately for our commonly used items we have an inventory level agreement with them and they're still keeping adequate stock so we don't have to wait on common parts.

Rexel branch in Milford, MA just closed.

No supply houses that I know of are open on Saturday - and unless my order is coming from the main distribution center, it is hard to get a site delivery anymore. Branches are down to 2-3 guy crews.

supply houses are slowing down here in Iowa as well. I havent ran into another electrician at the supply house for quite sometime. It used to be you would have to wait in line for a bit. These are some scary times for everyone and I hope everyone the best of luck to keep working

it's interesting.... i've gotten calls this week from two people, just calling
every licensed contractor, looking for work......

slow is a problem for every retail or wholesale supplier of *everything*,
but electrical and plumbing suppliers are getting a double whammy because
of the copper price falling so much.... i've seen two wholesale housed fold,
and i'm putting it to that....

if you have $2m that you paid for a product, that you can now sell for
$900k, you can either go broke selling it, or go broke not selling it. doesn't
leave many options.

right now, nobody's buying much of anything. i went into costco yesterday,
looking to purchase a flat screen, and the guy i asked about it went out to
the parking lot, got me a flat cart, helped me load it, walked me thru
checkout, pushed it out to my van, and helped me load it... parking lot was
half full.... and it wasn't a high end tv or anything... $900....

stuff is just slow...

except for one interesting thing.... intrest rates spiked on consumer credit
this last week.... i've got two credit cards, and the capitol one is a 4.8%
annual interest rate, and i got a notice saying effective next month, it'll
be 16%......

someone's gotta pay for all those defaults... i guess it's my turn....

CES in Milford is open Saturdays. The branch manager is the best supply guy I've ever dealt with and is there every other Saturday. They also run deliveries all day. Call and they deliver almost immediately unless driver is out of the building. And they did this even when times were really busy.

Crown Supply in Milford is also still open Saturdays.

Yup, I was notified the CC interest rate was going up to. Dang near cut it up and told them were to put it, then thought...Hey, I pay them off completely every month so why bother.
Why bother, because It is costing you money even if you pay it off every month, the vendor you used the CC with pays increases also, as part of their credit discount agreement, then they pass on that increase to you and everyone else that pays off every month. The sooner we learn to tell the CC,s and banks where to put their business, the faster we will recover from the recession
