I was having a conversation with the gentleman about how the supply houses works and he was under the impression that before a job is totally completed the supply house has to be paid in full. Is that true? Are these bigger companies paying supply houses in full before jobs are over or is there still a balance that they pay on after completion?

supply house is an independent organization that sells goods. How they choose to offer credit to purchasers is totally up to them. If they are selling directly to the owner of the building I imagine they have more right to file liens on the property if they don't get paid then if they have if selling to the contractor.
