Where in the code, 70 or 72, does it indicate the spacing requirements for supporting fire alarm cabling?

There is no spacing requirements for the support of FA cabling to be found in 70/72...at least not by measurement.

As an inspector, what would you like to see in a commercial installation regarding spacing of the fire alarm cable supports.

Since there is not prescriptive spacing requirement for support, I generally specify that which is needed for NM cable.

Sorry for being so late on this post.
What's funny is Article 760 happens to be the only low voltage article that does require a spacing for supports. The only reference is made on 760.130,B,1 NEC 2008. This is also in the NEC 2005 but I can't tell you the Par. #. Book is in the truck. This requirement is 18" only for cables within 7' of the floor.
