Support spacing

Im trying to find where does it say emt and rigid conduit must be supported 3 feet within each COUPLING. I kinda got into a 'discussion' (more like a disagreement) with a friend over this. I can see where it says 3 feet within each box, or conduit body (ie. LB's, LL's). And i can see where it says 10 feet there after on just regular supports, (so this in most cases would have you within 3 feet of a coupling,)

but where in the code does it 'based' the spacing from the coupling?? Im still new so bear with me if my question sounds silly. Thanks.

It doesn't, it used to, not anymore.

The NEC does not require a support within 3' of a coupling.

Re: Support spacing

Thanks!! So i was right when i was arguing (oops i mean discussing) with my buddy. :) I even see the exceptions that allow you to have supports up to 5 feet apart! (studs and stuff).

I am curious where did you get that mike holt illistration, i would love to see more of them. Does anyone know if the 'Nec' has a "legal definition" of a 'Termination point' . Thanks again.
