is it code to support emt in free air by using a cowboy to cowboy method, from emt to emt with threaded rod instead of hanging an anchor and supporting the emt individually.I was just woumdering ive been using this method to save time .

hanging a cowboy from one emt and securing it to anouther emt conduit with a cowboy with threaded rod inbetween
 
I still have no clue what you mean by "cowboy"

As far as raceways/conduit supporting other raceways/conduit- see 310.11(B)

(B) Raceways Used as Means of Support. Raceways
shall be used only as a means of support for other raceways,
cables, or nonelectrical equipment under any of the
following conditions:
(1) Where the raceway or means of support is identified for
the purpose
(2) Where the raceway contains power supply conductors
for electrically controlled equipment and is used to support
Class 2 circuit conductors or cables that are solely
for the purpose of connection to the equipment control
circuits
(3) Where the raceway is used to support boxes or conduit
bodies in accordance with 314.23 or to support luminaires
in accordance with 410.36(E)

I have done it vertically to support multiple rows of emt going into a panel.
 
I thougth a cowboy referenced a metal piece that wrapped around and held MC and Romex.

Different than a simple caddie clip, not a Mineralac, locally I'll say there called "Cowboy slim".

If you changing runs of material within that run then each particular run needs to be supported per it's own aspects of usage.
 
Cowboy, Minerallac hanger, Mae West all the same thing depending on the local dialect. I answer to the OP's question no you cannot support one raceway from another.

Jude, you sure you're not referring to a Colorado Jim? Caddy CJ-6?

In regards to the OP, as long as the mineralac straps are connected together and you're not using the raceway itself for the support, I would say its code compliant. Cheesy, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I think that would be code compliant, but I don't think that is what the OP is saying that he is doing.
