Supporting from duct support

I know this is a grey area but I need some direct code direction. Here's the scenario... We have 30' ceilings, which are owned by duct work. The duct is installed tight to slab with very little access to the deck. We have to install a strut system to support lighting. We would like to through-bolt the angle iron from the duct support with 3 hole kindorff knees and rubber isolation pads. There are some areas we can drop some rod so this won't be the only support. It still will be about 50% of the support system. My question is what NEC reference do I have as to this being a direct violation or code compliant? Any direction suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks:confused:

You won't find anything in the NEC not allowing you to support luminaires from a duct supports. Make sure that the duct hangers will support the extra weight of the luminaire and you should be OK. Also make sure there is nothing in the specs that prohibit this and that the AHJ is OK with it.

By the way welcome to the forum.:)

Great help, We are going to verify whether or not the tin knocker will allow us on his rack but I just wanted to make sure a code issue wouldn't arrise.... Thanks again:grin:
