Code reads that 2" PVC conduit should be supported within 3' of box, termination, access fitting etc. I have a 2" PVC conduit emerging from the ground to a 90 degree sweep then to an LB. If I measure from the ground to the LB it is less than 3'. Is this considered supported per the code? opinions.

Re: supporting of PVC

Grab the conduit, if it moves, secure it. It may be self supporting, but not self securing.

Regardless of dimensions, it must be protected from physical damage.

Re: supporting of PVC

Just for info purposes this is a feeder rising out of the ground for a mobile home and this is the protection for the feeder!

Re: supporting of PVC

Technically schedule 80 is the only PVC approved for physical protection.

Even conduit used for physical protection must be physically protected.

Re: supporting of PVC

Not to be smart.

Remember the code is a reference point. If you question if something is sub-standard, just improve it or make yourself be proud of the installation.

You will never be wrong if you do workmanlike work.

Re: supporting of PVC

Thanks for the replys. But back to the question: Is it code complient the way it is installed? does it need support or not?

Re: supporting of PVC

In most areas a flex joint is used for the feeder unless the mobile home is on a permanent foundation. The connection is for possible ground movement.

The decision for securing, must be your own and the inspector.
