I believe that the effect a surge has on a particular piece of equipment is determined by magnitude of the surge dictated by the surge impedance at that piece of equipment.
My question is, is the surge impedance actually the upstream equvelent normal positive sequence system impedance, or is the surge impedance value and actual true surge impedance value determined by I believe an sqrt(L/R) of the system?
