I have a 1200A 480 v service that with a 100A 3ph breaker feeding an office 480V disconnect. The disconnect feeds a 45 KVA transformer which feeds a 200A 120/208V Main Breaker panelboard. Can i install a surgeprotector on the line side of the 120/208V MB ans Can i put the surge protectors wires under the same lugs as the feeder wires?
i got this info from our supplier:
As discussed, the SYKX series unit has an XUHT UL code listing. This means that the device can be installed anywhere on the load side of the primary overcurrent device (fuses, mcb, etc.) for the facility. Articles 285 and 280 of the NEC cover installation requirements for XUHT and OWHX devices. As long as the SYKX is load side of the MCB it doesn?t matter if it is line or load on any downstream breaker.
Thanks in advance.
