Surge Protection for Kohler RXT transfer switch

a customer wants surge protection for pretty much everything in his house including the generator side of the transfer switch. is there anything to protect the switch in case transient voltage comes from the emergency load side. The switch is a Kohler RXT model

Connect one of these (or similar) at the breaker panel. This will protect everything connected to the panel, whether connected to utility power or generator power.

Out of curiosity, where does he think a surge is going to come from when on genny power?
