We have had a failure problem with electronic fan control boards in outside residential A/C condensers. I am considering installation of surge protectors on the condenser's feeder. What do you think ?

Who made the boards, are they all from the same manuf. and rev.#(Bad QC?)
What makes you think it is due to surge?
Any other problems in the house from surges? ie. computers,TV

Two electronic stats were damaged along with the A/C condenser board which controls the speeds of the fan and compressor. Manufacturer is Trane. And this is the second board in the last year which occured on a different unit. I always install surge protectors on well pumps and they seem to minimize problems that is common to this area.

There are four main types of disturbances which should be considered:

1- Voltage dips (also called "sags" or "brownouts")
2-Electromagnetic interference
3-Radio frequency interference
4-Power surges (also referred to as "voltage surges" or "transient voltages")
