Hi all,

I know this isn't code related but I thought I'd just ask here.
I wired my sons house, it's almost done, thank goodness, but I was wondering about surge protection. I installed aa 320 amp service, two 200 amp panels. I was thinking about installing a surge protection breaker in each panel, is one in each panel needed or is one in a one of the panels enough protection?. I'm not sure if it's really needed, with the cost of the surge protection breakers, but then the electronics are pretty expensive also.
Do these work? I have installed them when I was working because they were on the drawings and it was a commercial/industrial install.

Thanks

What i do on residential is a surge breaker in each panel, and then TVSS receptacles at each TV or media cabinet location.

The rules I learned for surge protection...

1. Nobody understands it.
2. You get what you pay for.
3. More is better...put them at the service, at the sub panel and at the point of use.

That is what I did at my house, except I didn't pay a bunch of money for any of them. I also have my tv and stereo on a small ups.
