surge protector

we have a 320 amp service at the pole and a 200 amp panel at the house. Should we install a surge protector at the pole or at the house panel? Do you have any suggestions as far as a good brand to purchase?

If you're talking about at the meter the POCO usually installs those and charges monthly for them. If that is the case I would just put one at the house panel.
I've had good luck with Eaton/Cutler-Hammer. But it really depends on the brand of panel you have if this is a new install to be inspected. That's if you plan on putting in one that mounts in a breaker space. If external, Square D also has a good one for any panel.
