Hi All, I have a question regarding surge suppressors installed in residential panels that have no available space. Some of you may have already seen my question at Electrician Talk, but that thread took a turn toward Ideal testers and customer service and never came back! I have a couple of clients that want surge suppressors, but have GE panels completely filled with "wafer" breakers. The newer version of the Intermatic IG1240RC3 can be installed as either a type 1 or type 2 surge protection device, which is an improvement from the older version, which was only type 2, requiring a dedicated 2-pole breaker. I want to try to avoid setting sub panels to make space. If anyone has figured-out a solution for this, please let me know. I will paste a link to the installation instructions. Keep in mind that the panels are fed with aluminum SEC and the TVSS leads are copper. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
