We have a project where GC will be doing all site work like for new equipment pad and POCO xfmr. so it will require quite a bit of trenchihg for primary and secondary service along with equipment to be installed. We would normally do this work ourselves or sub out. GC wants us onsite to help with site work survey and layout. They want us to tell them where to dig for pole lights, poco xfmrs, service equipment, etc. I know most of you guys wouldnt do proects like this but what concerns do you see in projects like this where now we are the GC seems like if we have to tell concrete guys how to layout site work?

I’d tell him he has the same prints you do. He took that scope off you to make more money on his end; let him pay you for the time if they can’t figure it out.

My only real concern would be getting paid for all the extra work that you will be doing to coordinate the locations if you had excluded that in your contract because the GC said the site work is by others. There really isn't any more risk to you than if you were doing that work yourself.

It's no different from customer/gc telling you he wants to supply all the materials to save money, then asks you to spend time to make a list of all the materials for him.

second this.
simplest and best answer

I hadnt had time to reply. Yes I agree GC took trenching/elevations/layout by Others but still left EC as GC to manage THE OTHERS on project. We are building and EV charging station. They guy managing project is the kinda guy that tells you what needs to happen at the end of the project not what needs to happen at the beginning.

If the GC doesn't perform the site work first. Does EC need to determine their conduit stub ups for GC? The GC contracted another person to excavate but left if up to us to determine conduit stub UPS. I understand we need to do our part but is actual place on EC or GC ?

Yes, but they need to at least need to stake the corners or give you some benchmark to measure from.

Edit…. Sorry, I just read the question again. I would say no. Let whoever is excavating do their own survey.
