In pipe? :) 338.10(4)(a) sends you to part II of 334. 334.12(2) says no.

Wow! I know of at least two locations where this was used above acoustical ceilings in independent living facilities above T grid ceiling. It was directed by the Electrical Engineer, never questioned by us, and never flagged by the inspector! I was ready to jump on you and correct you, but wisely went to the article first.

That said, I have a BIG problem with the way the code deals with this, if in fact they intend to excluded it's use above acoustical ceiling. I go to uses not permitted of article 338 and it says nothing about referring to 334. References to uses not permitted for SE SHOULD not be only referenced in the "uses permitted section" I still wonder if this is an accident.
