We normally bond above ground and inground pools by running a ring around the pool and
connecting at 4 points. We don't have problems with the water, ladder, lights etc.

However, if you have an intex blow up pool (no metal) with 48" of water (permanent installation) the ahj is telling me to bond the
pool. I asked the inspector how. He told me to figure it out.

The next day, i am working on a wilbar above ground pool (54" wall height, steel wall and everything else is resin). I run the ring around the pool, but there is no where to put a lug. He told me to use the wall bolts and bond the wall at 4 points. This got me through inspection, but is not imho correct. Also what is the point of bonding the wall at 4 points, when 2 would do?

Does anyone have a solution or answer to bonding resin and blow up pools?

thank you

I have never seen an above ground pool come with a place to bond but the metal rungs must be bonded. Drill a hole and install a ground lug---usually done at th bottom of the metal rungs.

well, if its a blow-up pool then its a portable/storable item, not perm item. UL listed i assume, thus no additional pool structure bonding needed.
but, is the pool gear permanent? that's the catch for NEC definitions in 680. better to set those up using the portable equip, then after inspection you make it perm. more than 42" deep and it seems NEC makes it a perm item. owner should stick with 42" or less, makes things easier.

maybe stick the metal ladder in the pool and bond the ladder?

but NEC 2017 680.26(B)(1), you don't have a conductive shell, thus you don't bond the shell.

Here is the definition of storable

Storable Swimming, Wading, or Immersion Pools; or Storable/
Portable Spas and Hot Tubs. Swimming, wading, or immersion
pools that are intended to be stored when not in use,
constructed on or above the ground and are capable of holding
water to a maximum depth of 1.0 m (42 in.), or a pool, spa,
or hot tub constructed on or above the ground, with nonmetallic,
molded polymeric walls or inflatable fabric walls regardless
of dimension.

Here is the definition of storable
if the pool gear is portable then the item is usually a portable pool, however, NEC puts a restriction based on water depth, 42" max. so it seems if the portable is 42.1" deep with a cap-cord pump/filter, the pool is still considered permanent.

but the bonding in 680 notes the non-conductive shell, which does not require bonding.

There are metal supports or a steel wall and they are required to be bonded This is the op's second example in the original post

(5) Metal Fittings. All metal fittings within or attached to
the pool structure shall be bonded. Isolated parts that are
not over 100 mm (4 in.) in any dimension and do not
penetrate into the pool structure more than 25 mm (1 in.)
shall not require bonding.

what metal?

...intex blow up pool (no metal) ...

but yes, as noted, if it has metal it needs to be bonded, but OP is asking where/how on that 2nd example he gave.
