Swimming Pool Grounding

When a swimming pool is subfed from a house, does the pump and related equipment need its own ground rod or should the related equipment be grounded to an insulated conductor ran back to the house service panel with the service conductors..?

Chasing stray voltage now and pool was renovated to salt water last year. Related equipment bonded and grounded to ground rod at pool (30 ohms)... ground rod at house has 80 ohms... Any thoughts

Not sure from reading your question but do you have a sub-panel that is feeding the pool equipment? If so, 680.25(B) requires an insulated equipment grounding conductor.

Secondly, if the sub-panel is attached to the house (not a separate structure) the NEC would not require ground rods for the sub-panel, pool pumps, pool water heaters, etc... If you choose to install the ground rod(s) they will have to be bonded in some fashion to the EGC feeding the respective equipment.

As far as bonding of equipment associated with the pool the NEC does not require that the bonding conductor be ran back to the sub-panel or the service equipment. See 680.26

If the sub panel (pool panel) is at a remote location, ie detached from the main building then it would need ground rods based on 250.32. A 4 wire with insulated ground is also required to the panel.
