we are also looking at the requirements for pool lighting and as far as i can tell in nec. 680.22 (b)1. I will have to be no less than 5 feet from the inside wall of the pool and 12 feet vertical from the maximum water level. Am i understanding this correct and does it apply to commercial applications. (we are building a condo where the pool is above the first floor and are worried about the corridor lighting being to close).

Re: swimming pools

Your not reading that exactly right.

If you want to install a lighting fixture, outlet, or ceiling fan above the pool and extending out 5' from the pool's inside walls, they will have to be at least 12' above the maximum water level.

This does not say you must keep a fixture 5' from the pool's inside walls.
