I have tenant fit out project, which is going to be offices.
Failed my inspection today because the inspector told my foreman onsite that we can not use 1900 (4S) boxes with MC clumps for switches. He told him that we have to use a box without the clumps and just use regular 3/8 connectors for MC.
This is the 1st time that I heard about this and not sure if code requires it. Does any one know about this code?

You mean you have used the inside clamps to secure MC cable?
I am 99% sure that those clamps are not rated for MC cable.

Assuming "clumps" are clamps, if they're the MC type clamp (with the guide hole for the wires) why wouldn't they pass? I could see it being an issue if they were NM clamps in the box, but I've never had an inspector question MC with those clamps.

Are you using MC-ap? That particular cable requires that the clamp has type marking of MCI-A.
