Ok code gurus, this should be an easy one. I had a long drive today, made a near emergency stop at a gas station, ran in, grabbed the keys for the bathroom, ran around the back and opened the door to the very dark bathroom, felt around for where the switch should be and felt wires, after finding the switch I saw the switch was just hanging there with no cover.

NEC violation? I am sure it is but am on the road and dont have mine handy.

did you say anything to the attendant?

This was a truck stop in deep rural SC, she had 5 kids and 3 teeth, smokin a cig in the doorway, I dont think she would have cared.

I could hear it now: "You need me to hold your hand honey?"

You sure you were not in Maine? Which reminds me, that was the state where the tooth brush was invented, anywhere else would have called it a teeth brush.

Zog, you should have asked yourself, "What would Dale do"? And go out to your Truck and get an ivory plate and put it on for the little lady. Who knows when you might need to make an emergency pit-stop there again.

Give it enough time and someone will get hurt or killed and she will handing that key over as well as the front door key.You should have pointed it out to her.And if you had 1 on truck installed free.

I agree that you should have said something, but why should he have to break out his tools and supply materials to someone who isnt his customer? If they dont ask me to work on it, I dont mess with it, if your concerned about safety call the fire marshall or electrical inspector....
