My boss informed me that you can no longer use off colors for switch legs such as purple or pink , etc. He tells me that the color must be the same as the line circuit. This sounds nuts.We have a, b, c switching on some builings and have to pull 3 wires of the same color and then identify each one by tagging. Is he off his rocker ? thanks

Re: switch leg colors

edon,

It's like that in Phx.Az. area also,it's great when the a,b, switching is on three way switches and don't forget the night lights!! Personally I feel it is more harm than good.

Re: switch leg colors

Well at least it is nice to here that there are other screwed up areas in this US OF A ;) maybe once you blend the red, blue, black you can use a nice chartruce to identify the night or even emerg. lighting

Re: switch leg colors

This issue in not as clear as it appears to be at first look. If there is more than one voltage system in the building, then 210.5 applies. This would limit the use of switch leg colors.

Re: switch leg colors

Don, Thank You for pointing that out. I started to, but some posts were frustrating me so I ran off. In this area we have some industrial facilites with 480Y/277; 240/120 hi-leg delta, and 208Y/120 all in one facility. By the time you try to comply with 2105 there aren't may colors left to use as "travlers" only.
