Switch loops and EMF

I was just wondering if a "switch loop" is a source of EMF or not. Does one hot cancel out the other hot? I always thought that EMF was only canceled by a return path such as a grounded conductor. Since a switch loop is carrying the same current on both wires , does it cancel?

Hello Peter, yes they do cancel each other, you can see this with a clamp on ammeter around both conductors.
