Switchboard sections

Is there a way besides asking a vendor and if it is not shown on the drawing how many section a switchboard would come in? Such as looking at breaker/switch sizes etc. Can you also get approx wieghts of each section? THanks.

Not without knowing what it is. Why not just ask your vendor? You should get drawings and weights as part of your quote.

A 1600A switchboard with (2) 400a, (2) 200a, (3) 100a & (5) 100a breakers.

I think you will have to depend on your vendor or specs. A board such as the one you mention could go either way. Pull box sections. metering sections and/or main disconnect sections are common.

You should receive shop drawings from the manufacturer that are very detailed.

I have had to run all the conduits for switchgear months before it arrived on site and you don't do that without good drawings.

SHould be one section easy, but there are a million variables. Rather than me ask questions just use this. Very easy to use and figure out your size and weights.

If you are talking about a 1600A/3p distribution panel only, then you could have only one(1) section or two. Distribution panel section and a load wireway
(overhead or underground).
If it is a sevice either indoor or outdoor, most likely you end up with three or four sections. (1) Overhead or underground pull section. approx. 400 -to-600 lbs
(1) Meter and Main section. approx. 600-to- 1000 lbs
(1) Distribution section. approx. 600-to-1000 lbs
and maybe (1) load wireway section. approx. 400-to 600 lbs.

You ask for approximate weight, but do not take figures above as accurate. as other post stated best is get the info from your supplier or mfg.
