An installation I?m reviewing is a single phase 120Vac feed to a series of devices. The wiring consists of a Hot, Neutral and Gnd conductors. A 2 ? Pole safety disconnect was purchased to isolate the devices for service, etc. The Hot conductor is obviously switched, but I?m considering switching the Neutral too. Since there?s an extra pole in the safety switch, an as an extra safety to completely isolate the devices from any possible stray voltage or currents.
The NEC 404.2 (B) addresses switching the grounded conductor, does this apply to this installation in terms of switching the Neutral? The Neutral is essentially at ground potential (connected at the transformer Δ Υ).

The grounded conductor and the neutral are one and the same.

As long as the grounded conductor is not fused, and cannot be opened independently of the hot, switching both is okay.
