Re: Switched Outlets Coommercial/Residential

For a commercial application you have to comply with 220.3(9) of the 2002 NEC or 220.14(I) of the 2005 NEC, which limits you to 180 VA per receptacle.

raider1 1....

I read the article 220.3 (9). It states the each recepticle shall be computed at NOT LESS that 180 VAs..... That is for calculations only, not for limits per recpticle...

Thanks anyway.

Electrojet,

I agree that it is for calculations.
Article 220 is titled Branch-circuit , feeder, and service calculations. If you are calculating the load of a branch circuit in a commercial application you would have to calculate each receptacle at 180 VA minimum.
So if I take a 20 amp circuit (non-continious load) and calculate the load I come up with 13 receptacles allowed on that circuit.

Your original post said "one switch/ckt ???" and the title of the thread talked about commercial and residential.

Ryan is correct about residential.
