Switches. Art. 404.2(C)

Part C and C5 indicate that there's no need for a grounded conductor at a switch controlling a receptacle load. Since we need a neutral for receptacle, this confused me a little? Could someone help me understand what I'm looking at wrong or what this means?

A switch can be wired with a hot wire and a return so there is no need for a neutral if the feed is in the receptacle. Since you cannot in most cases dim a receptacle then there is no need for the neutral at the switch. Many electronic devices such as occupancy sensors & electronic dimmers need a grounded conductor.

I agree with Dennis but IMO even for a switch controlled receptacle there should be a neutral required at the switch. It isn't far fetched to think that someone may want to have a control device like a wifi switch controlling the light plugged into the receptacle.

I use plug-in dimmable l.e.d. drivers for under cabinet and bookcase lighting. I agree neutral should be required at switches.
