Is there a classification for a disconnect switch(single phas) and 3 phase?
A switch with one one position is single throw swith. So would a disconnect having to poles be considered a double pole single throw? What about a 3 phase disconnect switch?

You have it correct. 3 pole single throw. For example, 3 pole double throw with center off for reversing a 3 phase motor.

I have seen something similar however it did not end well. It was an old school wye start delta run which used a chain on the handle.
Pull one way until you here it get up to speed than pull the other way for run. It was for a big press.
